Please do not cut and paste from online dictionaries. You will certainly want to consult some dictionary (dictionary.com, yourdictionary.com, etc.), but please make sure that you write out the etymological explanation in your own words. Example:

tonsure: the way that monks and priests have their heads shaved; from Latin tondeo, tondere: to clip or shear (like sheep); the monks get their hair cut off like sheep getting shorn
