Reading Overview

	Reading 1: Augustine recalls the sins and crimes of his youth, including the notorious theft of some pears from a neighbor's tree.
	Reading 2: Augustine works himself up into frenzy, unable to understand why someone as learned and intelligent as he is cannot find the way to God.
	Reading 3: At the prompting of a mysterious voice, Augustine picks up the Bible and reads a passage from Paul's Letter to the Romans which shows him the way he was seeking.
