Grammar: Parallel Structure

Latin syntax often relies heavily on parallel structure. Sometimes, the parallelisms are not stated explicitly, and it can sometimes be confusing in English, especially if the structure is not one that we have in English.

It can help sometimes if you "imagine" the missing Latin words, so that you can follow the parallel structure clearly in the Latin:

illa fecit eum dormire... et reclinare caput = illa fecit eum dormire... et [fecit eum] reclinare caput

Qui ergo uitam non habere uult piam, quaerat aeternam = Qui ergo uitam non habere uult piam, quaerat [vitam] aeternam
