9.56 Passive to Active Transformations

For the Composition assignment this week, you will be doing some transformations from active to passive, and from passive to active. Read through the instructions for the Composition assignment, and then use these sentences to practice this kind of transformation drill.

A οἱ δοῦλοι τὸν κύριον εὑρίσκουσιν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ.
The slaves find the master in the house.
P ὁ κύριος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ εὑρίσκεται ὑπὸ τῶν δούλων. The master is found by the slaves in the house.
A οἱ μαθηταὶ βαπτίζουσι τὸν λαὸν τῶν πιστῶν.
The disciples baptize the crowd of the faithful.
P ὁ λαὸς τῶν πιστῶν βαπτίζεται ὑπὸ τῶν μαθητῶν.
The crowd of the faithful is baptized by the disciples.
A εἰς τὸν κόσμον τούτον ὁ θεὸς τοὺς ἀγγέλους πέμπει.
God sends the angels to this world.
P εἰς τὸν κόσμον τούτον οἱ ἄγγελοι ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ πέμπονται. The angels are sent by God to this world.
A οἱ κακοὶ βάλλουσι λίθους.
The bad people are throwing stones.
P λίθοι βάλλονται ὑπὸ τῶν κακῶν. Stones are being thrown by the bad people.
A οἱ ἀγαθοὶ τὰ μικρὰ τέκνα σῴζουσιν.
The good people save the little children.
P τὰ μικρὰ τέκνα σῴζονται ὑπὸ τῶν ἀγαθῶν. The small children are saved by the good people.
A οἱ ἀγαθοὶ κύριοι τοὺς δούλους κρίνουσι κατὰ τὴν ἀλήθειαν.
The good masters judge the servants according to the truth.
P ὑπὸ τῶν ἀγαθῶν κυρίων οἱ δοῦλοι κρίνονται κατὰ τὴν ἀλήθειαν. The slaves are judged by the good masters according to the truth.
A οἱ πονηροὶ τὰ πλοῖα λύουσι λίθοις. The wicked people are destroying the boats with stones.
P τὰ πλοῖα λύονται λίθοις ὑπὸ τῶν πονηρῶν. The boats are destroyed with stones by the wicked people.
A ἡ ἀδελφὴ ἐκείνη λόγους καλοὺς γράφει. That sister writes beautiful words.
P λόγοι καλοὶ ὑπὸ τῆς ἀδελφῆς ἐκείνης γράφονται. Beautiful words are written by that sister.
A ὁ θεὸς αὐτὸς τά τέκνα διδάσκει. God himself teaches the children.
P τά τέκνα διδάσκονται ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ αὐτοῦ. The children are taught by God himself.
A ἐν τῃ θαλάσσῃ τὸ μικρὸν τέκνον βλέπει πλοῖα. The small child sees boats in the sea.
P πλοῖα ἐν τῃ θαλάσσῃ βλέπονται ὑπὸ τοῦ μικροῦ τέκνου. Boats are seen in the sea by the small child.
