21.149 Reflexive Pronouns

Make sure you read Croy section 149 on reflexive pronouns.

Since the antecedent of a reflexive pronoun is always the subject of the sentence, that means the reflexive pronoun can never serve as the subject of the sentence. Therefore, there is no nominative case for the reflexive pronouns.

Note also that while there are distinctive first-singular and second-singular pronouns, for the plural, the same set of pronouns is used for all three persons. (This is not entirely clear in Croy's presentation, but if you look at his first person, second person and third person plural reflexive pronouns, you will see that they are all the same).

The first singular and second singular pronouns exist in the feminine and masculine genders, but not in the neuter. For the third person and plural pronouns, all three genders exist.

Note the distinctive rough breathing in the third person and plural forms!
