6.40 Simple Sentences, with English

Please remember that these are only suggested translations. Any translation is just an approximation of the original and, by definition, there are always multiple translations possible of any sentence, no matter how simple it might be.

Preposition with Genitive  
περὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ λέγει. She speaks about the way. He is speaking about the road.
μένομεν μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν. We stay with the disciples. We are staying with the disciples.
Preposition with Dative  
μένομεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ. We stay in the desert. We remain in the desert.
μένει ὁ θεὸς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς. God remains in the heavens. God stays in the heavens.
Preposition with Accusative  
πέμπομεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς εἰς τὴν ἔρημον. We are sending the brothers into the desert. We send the brothers into the desert.
λέγομεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφούς. I speak to the brothers. I am speaking to the brothers.
Review these Adjective constructions  
λέγω πρὸς τοὺς πιστοὺς. I speak to the faithful ones. I am speaking to the faithful people.
βλέπομεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς τοὺς κακοὺς. We see the evil brothers.
λέγουσιν οἱ ἀγαθοὶ προφῆται. The good prophets are speaking. The good prophets speak.
λέγουσιν οἱ περὶ τὸν προφήτην ἄνθρωποι. The people around the prophet are speaking. The men around the prophet speak.
