De vulpe et rubo [See an illustration from a 1501 edition.] Stultum est auxilium implorare ab illis, quibus a natura datum est obesse potius quam aliis prodesse; de hoc audi fabulam. Vulpes cum sepem quandam ascenderet, ut periculum vitaret, quod sibi imminere videbat, rubum manibus conprehendit atque volam sentibus profudit, et cum graviter saucia foret, gemens inquit ad rubum: Ut me iuvares ad te confugi, et tu deterius me periclitasti! Cui rubus: Errasti, vulpes, ait, que pari dolo me capere putasti, quo cetera capi consuevisti. Fabula significat, quod stulte imploratur auxilium ab illis, quibus naturale est obesse.
