Πέρδικά τις γεωργὸς ὃν τεθηρεύκει
θύειν ἔμελλεν ἑσπέρης τι δειπνήσων.
τὸν δ' ἑκέτευε ταῦτα· "μὴ σὺ ποιήσῃς·
πολλὰς ἐγώ σοι" φησί "δέσποτ', ἢν ζήσω,
πέρδικας ἄλλας ἀντ' ἐμοῦ κυνηγήσω
