PAUNDRAKA. [Source: Dowson's Classical Dictionary of Hindu Mythology] A pretender who, on the strength of being a Vasudeva, or descendant of one named Vasudeva, set himself up in opposition to Krishna, who was son of Vasudeva, and assumed his style and insignia. He was supported by the king of Kasi (Benares), but he was defeated and killed by Krishna, and Benares was burnt.
