AKRURA. [Source: Dowson's Classical Dictionary of Hindu Mythology]

A Yadava and uncle of Krishna. He was son of Swaphalka and Gandini.

It was he who took Krishna and Rama to Mathura when the former broke the great bow.

He is chiefly noted as being the holder of the Syamantaka gem.
