Perry's Index to the Aesopica
As Perry explains, he reserved 286 for "Spider and Lizard, a fragment
of a Babrian fable quoted by Suidas s.v. kolotes: A lizard came upon a
shrewd spider's web and entered, cutting away the subtle texture of the
wall..." [the fragment breaks off here, and there is no other extant
version to supply the conclusion].
You can find a compilation of Perry's index to the Aesopica in the gigantic appendix to his
edition of Babrius and Phaedrus for the Loeb Classical Library
(Harvard University Press: Cambridge, 1965). This book is an absolute must for anyone interested
in the Aesopic fable tradition. Invaluable.
