Ἡμίονος ἀργῆς χιλὸν ἐσθίων φάτνης
καὶ κριθιήσας ἐτρύχαζε κἀφώνει
τένοντα σείων "ἵππος ἐστί μοι μήτηρ,
ἐγὼ δ' ἐκείνης οὐδὲν ἐν δρόμοις ἥττων."
ἄφνω δ' ἔπαυσε τὸν δρόμον κατηφήσας·
ὄνου γὰρ εὐθὺς πατρὸς ὢν ἀνεμνήσθη.
