Αἴλουρος ὄρνεις οἰκίης ἐνεδρεύων
ὡς θύλακός τις πασσάλων ἀπηρτήθη.
τὸν δ' εἶδ' ἀλέκτωρ πινυτὸς ἀγκυλογλώχιν,
καὶ ταῦτ' ἐκερτόμησεν ὀξὺ φωνήσας·
"πολλοὺς μὲν οἶδα θυλάκους ἰδὼν ἤδη·
οὐδεὶς δ' ὀδόντας εἶχε ζῶντος αἰλούρου."
